After 107 years of family farming, a unique opportunity is being offered to purchase Ravenhoe Farm, together with Tea Tree Gully and Lone Pine Farms, by public auction on the 12 October 2017 at 1pm at the Northampton Community Centre, unless sold prior.
Located in the tightly held area of Ogilvie, just 25km north of Northampton, this farming operation was started in 1910 by the Chick family. Fast forward 107 years and the operation has grown to a combination of 3 farms over 7 titles, amassing a total area of approximately 8,740 acres.
Prior to 2006 the emphasis was on wool production, with up to 5000 sheep run annually. Clover, lupins, barley and wheat were grown on a rotation basis. Since 2006, sheep have been removed and the undulating red loam, sand over gravel and easy working, yellow sand plain soils have been rotationally cropped with wheat, lupins and canola.
Over this period the operation has received several applications of lime and prior to the 2016 season, all the currently cropped sand plain was deep ripped. The cropped area for 2017 is approximately 5,658 acres. The potential cropping area for the combined farms is given as approximately 6,300 acres.
Complementing this great property is a very generous amount of infrastructure. Ravenhoe has two 3 x 1 homes plus a below ground pool, massive 50m 18m machinery shed, 100t sliding roof fertiliser shed, 6 stand shearing shed, 12 x 26m dome hay shelter plus numerous other large storage sheds.
Lone Pine has a 2006 built 250t fertiliser shed, plus 3 x 42t modern silos. All three farms have a good supply of water, suitable for stock and spraying. Ravenhoe has very good stock infrastructure, with 20 paddocks, shearing shed and yards. Tea Tree has 9 paddocks with fencing described as average. Lone pine is not currently stock proof.
This highly regarded farming enterprise can be sold as a whole or in three separate parcels. The property will be available for settlement in Feb 2018. Don't miss a once in 3 generation opportunity! Inspection is highly recommended.
