ReviewsAvoiding ‘Agent Finder’ websites and relying on your own research to choose an agent will help you find a better agent and a better deal, says Michael Everard, Victorian State Manager of Rodwells Ruralco Property.

“An increasing number of agent finder websites are claiming to connect vendors and buyers with the best local agents for free, but charging agents up to 20% referral fees,” said Mr Everard.

“Before committing to these sites consumers should question the level of service provided and the criteria used to choose agents.”

Mr Everard says that agents are competitive by nature and vendors are more likely to get a better deal by doing their own research on websites such as and to determine the most successful and active local agents. These sites offer impartial information such as activity reports, agent ratings and reviews without the need to give personal details to a go-between.
